Meet Sharnika Chamberlain: Energetiks Ambassador and Rising Star

Sharnika Chamberlain’s dance journey is a story of passion, perseverance, and boundless ambition. From starting dance at just three years old to excelling as a versatile artist, Sharnika’s path showcases her unwavering dedication and love for the art form.

A Journey Sparked at Three

Sharnika Chamberlain’s dance story began at the age of three, when she started both dancing and modelling. Her journey commenced at Dance Extreme Performing Arts Studio under the guidance of Miss Lisa Wilson, who fostered Sharnika’s strong technical foundation and an unshakable love for dance. Throughout this time, Sharnika achieved Honours with Distinctions in Ballet and Tap exams, won countless Eisteddfods, and landed coveted roles such as a performer in Ne Roi, under Ken Ludden, Director of the Margot Fonteyn Academy in New York, and Legally Blonde with the Performing Artistry Company.

At just nine years old, Sharnika joined the Dance Prescription Program, where her red locks and spirited personality earned her the nickname “Brave,” after the Disney character Merida. The moniker stuck, embodying Sharnika’s courage and determination. During her time in the program, she honed her artistry, jazz technique, and skills, later becoming a lab assistant for Dr. Lisa Ellis, where she travelled nationally to assist in Jazz Technique workshops across Australia.

Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance

Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance (JCMOD) marked a significant turning point in her journey, allowing her to refine her commercial and hip-hop styles and grow as a versatile performer across all genres. Her time at JCMOD is pushing her to explore new styles, embrace challenges, and further establish herself as a well-rounded artist.

SCIMM Dance Company

For the past five seasons, Sharnika has been a part of SCIMM Dance Company, where her passion for contemporary dance is truly flourishing. SCIMM provides her with numerous opportunities to showcase her skills, including performing as a soloist and being featured as the face of their show. “The technique and strength training through contemporary movement has enabled me to become the dancer I am today,” she shares.

While contemporary dance resonates most with Sharnika, her versatility allows her to thrive in all styles. For her, dance is more than movement; it’s a way to connect with audiences and express herself fully.

Life Lessons Through Dance and Future Aspirations

Dance has not only shaped Sharnika as an artist but also as a person. The dedication and perseverance required in her training have translated into other areas of her life, helping her excel in her studies, where she achieved a perfect 50 study score in VCE VET Dance. She also values the teamwork and collaboration that dance demands, forming lifelong friendships with like-minded individuals along the way.

Sharnika’s aspirations are as bold as her dance moves. Her dream is to travel the world as a professional dancer, performing on stages across the globe and inspiring others with her artistry. For Sharnika, every perfect day starts and ends with dance, and her journey is a testament to the joy and fulfillment the art form brings.
