This month Ballet International Gala, or BIG as it is aptly referred to, is set to return to Australian stages with a cast comprising of new and returning international superstars of the ballet world. Helmed once more by its fearless young producers, Joel Burke (a professional dancer himself) and Khalid Tarabay, BIG promises to deliver a show that will delight and enthral both ballet aficionados and dance newcomers alike. With names like Roberto Bolle, Daniil Simkin and returning star Skylar Brandt, as well as star of the stage and the big screen Juliet Doherty and Sydney-born Principal with the Royal Ballet, Alexander Campbell (both also a recurring BIG artists), BIG II offers a smorgasbord of world talent that has never before shared the one stage, let alone on Australian soil. Joined once more by homegrown rock band Selfish Sons, BIG II will deliver on re-infusing classical ballet with an edgy, modern twist which was part of the winning formula that made the original Ballet International Gala such an indisputable success.

Without the hefty weight of COVID restrictions and regulations that hindered its predecessor (though impressively, didn’t prevent it), this season of BIG has ramped up the scope, most excitingly hosting shows not just in Brisbane, but the Gold Coast as well. Energetiks also proudly announced their partnership with BIG for this upcoming season, developing an exclusive line of BIG x Energetiks merchandise that will be available for audiences to purchase at each show. As an Australian Made brand for 33 years, Energetiks recognises the importance of supporting events that elevate and enrich the Australian dance industry and are excited to watch BIG’s latest season inspire a whole new generation of dancers. BIG II is certainly a show with much to offer its audience, and one that will no doubt build on the already promising legacy of the Ballet International Gala.
